My favorite job in high school was working at our local radio station. I worked five evenings a week, and some Saturdays. I did the news “live – on air” each evening, followed by playing records. (I’ve really dated myself, here!) I recorded advertisements and PSAs (public service announcements). When I went home for the evening, I started the automation, pre-recorded music that would play until the radio station went off the air later that night. On Saturdays during college basketball season, I operated the equipment in the studio while another team member was at Purdue, broadcasting the game. I loved that job! And I appreciated the station owner giving me the opportunity to do something fun while providing a service and learning about a local business.
